SwigJig is a project I worked on with Katherine Keane my first semester at ITP. The idea behind the SwigJig is pretty simple: Open the door of this liquor cabinet and create a different party atmosphere, depending on which bottle is selected.
Discreetly hidden in this Art Deco-era cabinet is a festive atmosphere waiting to happen. Depending on which drink you take out, SwigJig plays a song and a light show. In the mood for a glass of wine, jazz plays. You could use a PBR? SwigJig plays MGMT.
Implementation: An Arduino microcontroller controls an MP3 player and MIDI light dimmer within the SwigJig. And it's completely customizable to individual tastes.
